What is British Time’s experience in English education?

British Time was founded in 1996 and started its educational activities in 1998. It is an institution still serving in this field. To date, it has successfully educated approximately 150,000 students.

In which locations are your branches in Istanbul?

We have branches in Kadıköy, Mecidiyeköy, Bakırköy, Beylikduzu Avcılar, and Kayseri. However, with our Online Education option, we remove all borders and create the opportunity to join the education from anywhere.

How many levels is your English education system based on?

We have adopted the internationally recognized level-based system used in English education worldwide to avoid confusion. Our education program consists of a total of 6 levels, with each level representing one course and 108 lesson hours. LEVEL TABLE: BEGINNER — 108 lesson hours — CEFR A1 ELEMENTARY — 108 lesson hours — CEFR A2 (KET) PRE-INTERMEDIATE — 108 lesson hours — CEFR B1 (KET) INTERMEDIATE — 108 lesson hours — CEFR B2 (PET) UPPER INTERMEDIATE — 108 lesson hours — CEFR C1 (FCE) ADVANCED — 108 lesson hours — CEFR C2 (CAE)

How long does it take to learn English?

To travel as a tourist, 2 levels are enough. For intermediate fluency, at least 3 levels are needed. For advanced fluency, 5 levels are recommended. Each level takes 6 to 12 weeks depending on lesson intensity.

Are there assignments and am I obliged to do them?

To support classroom education, homework and self-study are essential. Our teachers assign exercises to reinforce learning outside the classroom.

Do you have make-up or extra classes?

We offer unlimited access to grammar videos and a Make-up Club where students can get private lessons by appointment to review or compensate for missed lessons.

Are there conversation courses?

Yes, we offer conversation courses for all levels. Students can attend unlimited sessions. For speaking and other activities, please check your branch's activity list.

Do you have any activities after the education?

Students who complete the course can attend our speaking clubs for free and unlimitedly for 5 years to maintain their English skills.

What is the learning guarantee?

If students attend regularly, complete assignments, and participate in make-up programs but still fail, they can retake the course for free, as long as absenteeism is under 10%.

How is the teaching staff and do foreign teachers also give lessons?

Our team includes both Turkish and foreign teachers with teaching certificates and pedagogical training. Lower levels are taught mainly by Turkish teachers; upper levels include foreign teachers, with level 6 being taught entirely by native speakers.

How do we receive education in the classrooms?

Our classes consist of homogeneous groups of 14-16 students, formed based on placement test results. Classrooms are equipped with projectors, computers, and smart boards. Digital materials and smartboard software enable interactive lessons. Audio-visual content enhances engagement. Internet-connected systems provide document access and grammar review. All classrooms have natural light, ventilation, and air conditioning to create a comfortable and high-quality learning environment.

I am not satisfied with my education, what should I do?

If your group’s dynamics or teacher cause demotivation, you may switch to another group and teacher that suits you better. Supplementary lessons are also offered to boost your motivation and support your success.

Are courses offered in other languages?

Our institution only teaches English.

Is a certificate given at the end of the education?

Yes, we issue a Course Participation Certificate to students who start and successfully complete their education.

What level should I have to attend the courses?

You can attend regardless of your level. Based on a placement test, you will start at a suitable level. If you have never studied before, you will begin in the beginner class.

How many people are in the classes at your language school?

Our class sizes consist of an average of 14 to 16 students at the same level.

Is there a placement exam?

Yes, a placement test (written or written+oral) is conducted after registration or online. If your assigned class is later deemed unsuitable, we will transfer you to a better-fitting class immediately.

Can I change the program and session?

You can choose different sessions and branches at the end of each level. Within your current branch, you may switch sessions anytime if there is a suitable class available.

What are the days and hours of your courses?

We offer various schedules: - Mon–Thu 10:00–13:45 (16 lesson hours/week, 1.5 months per level) - Mon–Thu 19:00–21:30 (12 lesson hours/week, 2 months) - Sat–Sun 09:20–13:30 (10 hours/week, 2.5 months) - Sat–Sun 15:20–18:30 (8 hours/week, 3 months) For online: - Mon–Thu 19:00–21:30 (12 hours/week, 2 months) - Sat–Sun 10:00–13:10 (8 hours/week, 3 months)

Are exams conducted in your General English courses?

In our General English courses, online exams consisting of 2 stages, test and speaking, are held at the end of each level. This final exam tests your reading, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary knowledge. Your success is determined clearly without any prejudice or positive discrimination.

Do you have an online education option?

Yes, online education is available at British Time. Our online courses are conducted live remotely in classes of 16 people. Students who wish can also transfer their face-to-face education online.

Is it possible to pause or freeze my education?

You can freeze your education for up to 1 year at the end of levels.

How does the registration freeze process work?

Unless there are force majeure reasons, your education will be frozen only if you notify us at the end of the level or at least 5 days before the start of the new level education.

What happens if my class does not open?

Although it is unlikely such a problem caused by us may occur, if the education does not start within 30 days following the initially planned and given first class date, our student may choose to terminate the “education contract”.

Absence exceeding 10% invalidates the success guarantee. However, for the topics you missed, you can use your make-up rights by scheduling appointments and making up the lessons.

Can I transfer my education rights?

If you cannot attend courses, you can transfer your remaining education to anyone you want under the transfer conditions determined by the institution. In this case, the person receiving the transfer must personally visit the institution and sign the transfer agreement.

At what level can I prepare for academic exams?

The exam you will attend and the required score are important. Please check the exam equivalency table.

Is there an age limit for language education?

Everyone over 16 years old can attend adult classes in our courses. Students younger than that receive education in age-appropriate classes.

Is there a consultancy fee for overseas education?

Our company does not charge any consultancy fee from students.

What is the detail of the free England opportunity?

Students who take 3 levels of courses receive 2 weeks, and students who take 4 levels receive 3 weeks of free English education in England as a gift. Our campaign only covers education. Visa, accommodation, meals, and all other expenses are covered by the student. We assist our students in visa procedures, accommodation, finding accommodation, transfers, and all these processes.

Am I required to sign a contract?

You are required to sign a contract. However, you can purchase as many levels/packages as you want. The contract duration only affects the campaigns and discount opportunities you benefit from.

Is installment payment available?

Our students can make payments in installments by cash, bank transfer/EFT, or credit card. Payment convenience is provided up to 12 installments for credit card and up to 17 installments for cash.

How is the discount for cash payment?

Extra discount opportunities are offered for cash payments depending on current conditions.

Can I cancel the contract? What are the conditions?

Our cancellation conditions are clearly stated in your contract. All cancellation procedures are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of National Education’s ÖKY regulation.
